It's pretty standard to be running out the door on Friday after work to begin a weekend adventure. However, on this particular Friday, my Prius was packed to the roof with all of my belongings. I was leaving Houston for good and headed to Boulder, Colorado - my new home. I was now a little older, a lot wiser, and having fell in love, so I'd say Houston was pretty good to me. But when Jacob got his dream job offer to be a professional photographer in Colorado, there was no doubt that I would be following my heart and headed there with him. So a week after Jacob had moved, I said goodbye to my students, packed the Prius, and begun the one-way trip. I made onelast stop at the infamous Buc-ee's, saw one last Texas sunset, and 8 hours later I was in Colorado, surrounded by mountains, and catching the sunrise.
Only hours after being in Colorado, Jacob and I were on an adventure and up a mountain. That 4Runner never seizes to amaze me - the roads that thing can climb! The view, sun, and wind were all equally extraordinary at 8,000 feet up.
Seriously... the wind was insane.
Another drive up a different mountain led to this view...
This random yellow flower was laying on the rocks at top of the mountain. : )
The Gross Dam and Reservoir... and some awesome grey clouds.
When we weren't driving up mountains and enjoying the views of our new homeland, we were living out of our vehicles. A special experience I will never forget and I think maybe everyone should do... at least for a few days.
These last two are Jake's photos, and as always, he did an indescribable job of capturing the moment, the emotions, and the environment all in one snapshot. If the rest of my time here in Colorado is even half as remarkable as my first 48 hours, it's going to be a truly monumental experience...
Once again - the wind was extremely powerful...I'm not 9 months pregnant here.
