I will be forever grateful for the unexpected email that presented me with this opportunity. Traveling to other countries is a privilege. Teaching in other countries is an honor and an unparalleled learning experience. I fear I learned more from the experience than I taught the kids. Furthermore, teaching in a country like South Korea where education is so highly valued and the behavior of children is so very different than where I'm from, was refreshing and inspiring.
My fourth graders were amazing! They came to camp to learn. The school gave me complete freedom as a teacher as far as curriculum went. These kids were the perfect bunch to implement complete PBL learning. English, Math, Science and Social Studies were all executed through projects. These kids were discovering things, answering and asking real questions, and solving problems all while learning English! They amazed me.
If you are a teacher, or anyone interested in teaching kids for that matter, you should take the opportunity to teach in another country. Feel free to contact me regarding this location and school if it seems like a good fit for you!
